GKD Illustrator Challenge for April's Guest Designer

Challenge: Choose favorite children's book and make a project inspired by the book. Include photo of book along with why you chose it and how it inspired your project. Your card must be created with one of the new March release sets and your inspiration is your favorite children's book!

That was an easy choice...Both of my girls (now soon to be 32 and 30) and my grankids loved....

this pic is from the internet - both of my daughters  have this book now for their kids....always fun to read and the younger ones STILL always love it - can read to our 3yr old Lily over and over....that little bird's travels in trying to find his mother never got boring to them. Always had fun changing voices with each "answer" the little bird got...
Did any of you read this one to your kids?

so for my card, this sweet image from Gina K's "Spring has Sprung" by Rupa just fit perfectly.....don't have a skinny legged bird image...but an adorable duck asking the same question is so cute!!!

wish I had had an ole hound dog stamp or image to use also...oh well! ..it is what it is....right?

kept the card simple -  the image is too cute to be covered in too much "stuff". It's colored with Copics and designer paper is from Basic Grey...flower from stash.

I had grand ideas of entering several cards this month, but just coming back from vacation so time is short! btw, thank you for the book suggestions...will be going to Barnes & Noble later in the week! really am going to start taking time to read instead of always making cards.....OMG! did I really type that !!!!!  thud....me hitting floor in shock (:

see ya tomorrow!

Hi Linda,
This card is beautifully done. I love the image - it really is beautiful. I'm not familiar with the book but it sounds a classic.

Totally beautiful card! I had the same idea with this image and book, it was one of my favorites as a child and I enjoyed reading it to my son when he was little. I am hoping to get a chance to make one yet this weekend, but time it flying by me.

I just joined an altered book club and my first book is Your Favorite Childrens book. I have to come up with my own favorite to make a layout with. I think I might use the Amelia Bedelia books. Have you heard of them? She's a maid and she's always making dumb mistakes, I loved them when I was little. Anywho...I love your card, the little duck looks just like he's asking "Are you my mother"... Very, very sweet.

Beautiful card and I love your take on the challenge. This was one of my favorite books to read to my kids now 16 and 11. I know what you mean about doing something other than cards. I recently got into doing the NY Times Crossword puzzles. Finishing one is almost as satisfying as finishg making a card.
