a Christmas card

hi there,
just had fun creating a card just ....because!
No challenge, no design team, no one needing a card....just something I sat here and did while watching the movie "Fireproof" (have a box of Kleenex right beside me LOL)

used the gorgeous stamps from Layers of Color
"Glad Tidings" and "Touch of Elegance"

forgot to run the embossing buddy over cardstock before embossing so it has a few snowy spots and
can hardly see the photo corners - tip: use lighter base when adding black photo corners LOL

ok, movie over - I'm all good cried out (-:
hugs and have a blessed weekend

ps  if you havent seen the movie "Fireproof "or the most recent release "Courageous"...treat yourself - will be a blessing to you (and watch with hubby, double blessing!)

Speedy the Cat Challenge #82

Welcome Weekend!
This week at the Speedy the Cat Challenge Blog Design Team member Harriet challenged us to create using " black, white and one other color"....well one of my fav combos is red, black and white....
so keeping it very simple (for a change LOL) I used two images from one of the new releases for November called A Trip to Lancaster.

used MFP cardstock, "dotted" Cuttlebug folder, Color Box ink - Licorice, red pen and stash ribbon!

DONE!
can't believe it - I dont think this counts as a CAS (clean and simple) because of the layers but this is about as CAS as I get!

Hope you get to pop over and see the wonderful creations from the Design Team AND hope you are inspired to join in the challenge...remember - random winner wins a FREE STAMP SET!

(one more thing - the new releases for November will be "officially" released on Nov 21-23rd and we will be having our release blog hop - it's late this month due to the sale of Mark's Finest Papers.)

Oldie but Goodie Blog Hop

hi there, welcome to the Oldie But Good Blog Hop where
the theme is always to use supplies that haven't been used for 6 months or longer and this time we were asked to think about being thankful!
This hop is done by members of the Facebook Group the Designing Divas...you should have arrived from the awesome blog of  DIVA Sue Morris

since we had a theme for this blog hop of something we are thankful for... my inspiration came to me while I was spending time with my mother-in-law who is 90 and lives in Logan, West VA. She has a salt block in her backyard (which is right at the bottom of the mountain) and the deer just come right on up and enjoy themselves!
it's beautiful and I'm thankful for "nature" - God's creation is so beautiful !!

the deer in the clearing reminded me of this stamp I've had from Penny Black for soooooo long...couldnt wait to get home and make my card - love purple and sparkle...so here you go

used retired Stampin Up designer paper, Eggplant and Perfect Plum cardstock, SU ribbon, liquid applique and stickles for snow, colored with Prisma pencil Violet and Copic C2, Smooch illuminator, MS border punch....handwritten sentiment...done!

 hope you like...

now you're off to the super uber talented blog of  DIVA Cindy Johnsen Pec

have a beautiful day,

2 more entries for Sugar Creek Hollow

major night owl attack ...
I'm so glad to be home..and STAMPING! can't sleep so went ahead and did my next two cards for the challenge over at Sugar Creek Hollow using the same stamp from Layers of Color but in two totally different layouts and color combos!

love this "tear" technique - different!! and used that Delicata Golden Glitz ink again (lovin that stuff!)

i stamped the image once on white then on brown cardstock - tore them and then pieced them together using the opposite color....you can see where I sponged the edges...and I love that vintage doesnt always mean darker or sepia colors. Stripes and spots are in my design paper and added the photo corner with liquid pearls, paper flowers from stash and leaves from scraps using MS punch...colored lightly with Copic B21, 45 and E11, matted using spellbinder's classic scalloped squares small

for this one, I used corner punch and rounded the two bottom corners. Added my gold spots randomly with gold gel pen on the brown piece. My stripes are embossed with the cuttlebug folder and lightly sponged with Ranger's Aged Mahogany, then crimped half of scrap from Graphic 45 with the small vintage Christmas image, sponged edges and added dots.  Added scrap piece of twill ribbon to upper corner and leaf spring from MS punch to bottom corner. This card opens from the side.

hope I didnt leave anything out - think I will see if I can finally get to sleep now ....have long day at work tomorrow after being off for a few days...
but it's alllllll good - blessed to have work KWIM!

will be around to visit you soon,
hugs

Sugar Creek Hollow and Layers of Color

The wonderful vintage challenges at Sugar Creek Hollow and the stamps from Layers of Color are just blending so wonderfully!!! This sentiment from LOC is going to be one of the designs for my Christmas Cards ...so you will be seeing it used a lot in various ways (-*...this week the challenge at SCH is "stripes and spots"...

I just got home earlier today from being gone since last Thursday but after I was unpacked, dinner done, etc etc couldnt wait to see what I've missed...went straight to the SCH site because I want to get 3 entries in this week...saw the challenge...and did this quick card for the challenge...

let my stash designer paper bring the stripes and spots...used brown cardstock for base and matting.

Have been wanting to use an ink new to me that I saw over on Jennie Harper's STV page ..it's called "Delicata Golden Glitz" by Tsukineko and it's gorgeous...and no heat embossing required! (thanks so much Jennie!!) got mine from Oozaks.com

anyway, after I stamped the image onto the brown, I sponged around edges with white ink from Color Box and added trim from Webster's and matted it on another piece of the brown cardstock. added 3 pearls using Vivid Pearl Pen up in the corner...

Quick card but I really like it!
Ok, back to work on my other 2 entries (-:

so glad to be home....

Phri-days are Phindy's Challenge #81

This week at Phindy's Place Friday Challenge Blog the challenge is to create using the theme "thankful or Thanksgiving"....well, I'm pretty much done with the few Thanksgiving cards that I send. We are having a ton of family over Thanksgiving so my favorite lady for the season is MRS SMITH - for those of you overseas or who may never have heard of her....she makes the most delicious frozen pies (catch 'em on sale) which are so truly handy to have ....with lots of whipped cream (-:

Naturally had to use Phindy's wonderful image Nana's Pies
no embellishments!!! quick n easy!!!

as you read this, DH and I are down in West Virginia with my MIL....our daughter is taking care of home so all is well...truly needed this break...

hope I get to color while I'm gone ...working on those Christmas cards that I wish I had started when someone else who's name I wont mention (Patti) started.... LOL

Sugar Creek Hollow's "trash to treasure" challenge entry #2

hi there!
yes, this is entry #2 (-:
checkout the candy from Sugar Creek Hollow - see that Cricut over on my sidebar?  oh yeah!...I'm so seriously going to get as many entries in as I can....3 per week! WHO doesnt want to win one of these babies!!

now this is a really quick card....and I'm not telling you what my "trash" is...can you figure it out?

this "trash to treasure" is really fun!
anyway....i was trying Selma's tutorial on doing a snow background and failed ...
(had lightly inked glossy cardstock with Ranger's Spun Sugar, stamped background trees with versamark and then sponged card again with Ranger's Victorian Velvet, heat set, then white embossed tree, misted with water..nothing happened)...
but not wanting to ditch my attempt..i kept going - stamped a miniature script stamp (from SU but separated from set so I dont know which one) on the opposite side of the white embossed tree (from SU's Lovely as a Tree) and then from the Layers of Colors Christmas Blessing set, used their Post Card and postage stamps in upper corner...matted onto white cardstock, made my photo corners, added my scrunched seam binding, matted onto Cranberry cardstock with lace on the side...
whew!
and NOW took my trash - and with black Stazon stamped the sentiment (from Amuse Art Stamps)
onto......drumroll please! ....

one of the sections that come in the white craft boxes to make your dividers!!

still have one more left to use at another time! added my button with the seam binding coming through it... DONE!  not a beautiful card but it is vintage....and it meets the challenge!

ok, so that's TWO entries into the drawing - have one more coming later this week (-:
I would encourage you to play but then WHY would I want to lower my chances KWIM - LOL !!!

hope you know I'm kidding - the more the merrier and  best of luck to everyone (-:
hugs,

Sugar Creek Hollow and Layers of Color

hi there
isnt it wonderful having an extra hour - I used mine to stamp ...probably should have slept instead LOL

anyway, this week Sugar Creek Hollow is having their "Trash to Vintage Treasure Challenge - well, I've been waiting...heeeeheeeeheeee....have a small box full of "trash" ready to use on cards - some I know how I want to use...some I dont have a clue (-:

Here is my trash for this challenge - it's the tag from the Thanksgiving garland I bought at Hobby Lobby - saw those flourishes and KNEW it was going to my "trash" stash (-:

it was a large tag so I cut it to fit my card...matted it to light blue card stock...added twill ribbon that I had lightly sponged with Ranger's Aged Mahogany and adhered to black cardstock for the base

can you see the white flower soft - not sure if I should have used that since its "vintage" and they didnt have fake "snow" on stuff....i dont think they did? lightly colored images with Copics and matted onto black cardstock. Took a small piece of light brown cardstock that was also sponged with Aged Mahogany, ran it through the Cuttlebug using the Doodle Parts and added to offset the flourish

but it still looked bare
light bulb moment !!

made three crepe paper flowers using small Stampin Up  punches - gold brad in center - scrunched them up and lightly dusted with...again...Ranger's Aged Mahogany...very lightly...

VOILA! my card (had to cut the tag in half but the twill ribbon covers that)!

the image is from the Layers of Color new Christmas Collection release designed by Nina Brackett and the set is called
"Christmas Blessing"..
you will see more of this collection...i really really really love it!
have decided that this collection is my choice for my cards this year

now I just have to seriously get started on making them (-:

hugs and blessings,
