Thursday Blast From the Past Challenge - 7/22 - Your FIRST GKD set plus tags

Happy Thursday everybody! And I start off with an apology – I have seen all your incredible entries…but haven’t been able to leave my comments before the challenge closed. I am so sorry – was traveling over a 3 day weekend and then there’s my “day” job that has had me working night and day….again, my sincerest apology.

But I did get two cards made this evening for this week’s challenge and

this week the challenge is to Use a Tag Die as a Decorative Element …and the “twist” is to use the FIRST Gina K Stamp set you purchased (or as close as possible to your first…just in case you have sooooooo many you don’t remember your first! LOL)
BUT if you dont have GKD stamps, just use one of your oldie but goodie stamps !

I did two cards to help get the mojo flowing on using the tags.

My “twist” card is from the set “Framed Friends” by Asela Hopkins! Loved this owl and the sentiments – went crazy over this one and the Gina K addiction began….big smile!

Used GKD’s Green Apple and Lemon Drop, Basic Grey’s Origins, GKD ribbon and Copics E57, 59, Y02, 26, C1 and 2. Mini pearls were colored with G67.

Had to do the “peacock” – cut my tags in half and hooked them over the edge of the border and then matted the bottom tag with the GKD Turquoise Sea  base cardstock, dp is stash (you know I love that!) and scallop mat is GKD's All Spruced Up. Colored with Copics G00, G21, B18 and gold pen.

Ok, now TAG ! you’re it!

Have fun with this challenge – looking forward to seeing how creative you get with tags and what YOUR FIRST set was… ahhhhhhh the Doc asks...so vot vas your virst taste of the GKD addiction?
smilin here (-:
hugs,
Linda

In order to be included in the random drawing for a free GKD stamp set, please create a new card (or project) for each challenge that you participate in. Thursday's Blast From the Past Challenge - Heat Embossing in color

Happy Day!!!
Thursdays for me are STV's Blast from the Past Challenges . This week it's Heat Embossing !! Everybody heat embosses, right!!! But if you're a newbie (and we all were), pop over and learn this technique...just click on above link....you won't be sorry!

the twist to this week's challenge is to heat emboss using colors! ink or powders...

This card is done with one of the new July Releases at Gina K. Soon will be available...it's called Pretty as a Peacock and was created by the super talented Asela Hopkins. I have been patiently waiting to get to use this set....hope you like peacocks...cause I am making cards with this set like crazy!!!

the gold cardstock from GKD was tough to photo - it's truly a gorgeous gold. Base cardstock and mat is GKD's In the Navy and dp is Webster's Pages, the blue/green dp is from GKD's digi section created by Theresa Momber Wings of Hop, and my peacock is heat embossed  with clear embossing powder over Vivid's Ultramarine and colored with Copics:  B69, BG18, 49 and Y28. The gold accents are done with Signa Gold pen and stash ribbon.

hey, did you know peacocks come in a ton of colors! I didn't ..but googled and will be trying some of the gorgeous color combos - there's even a white peacock!
For the challenge at STV, you do not need to use Gina K Designs stamps to participate, although we'd love it if you did! In fact, if you use Gina K Stamps in your entry, then your name will be added to the prize drawing TWICE! Please be sure to create a new project for the challenge versus linking up something you've created before.

You have until next Wednesday, July 7th, at 8pm CST, to upload your sample. One winner will be drawn at random to win a Gina K stamp set valued at $24.95 or less!

truly looking forward to seeing your creation in the challenge!

Good morning, this card is for
to use Black, White and Grey

Recently several of my blogging friends have produced beautiful CAS (clean and simple) cards. These style cards are a serious challenge for me. I love the CAS cards others create but rarely like my own....so decided that for this color challenge I would try it again...and again -  have a hard time leaving it with so much open space BUT kinda like this one... i guess...maybe....phooey! just seems like it needs...more! aarrrggghhhhh!!

have a blessed CAS day!! (-:

STV color challenge

Hi everyone
Today's card is my entry to Tina's STV Color challenge. I havent been playing the past couple of weeks but think I'm finally getting back on track. This week her challenge is to use colors from Cosmos Designer Paper "Material Girl" or actually use the designer paper, if you have it.  Well, I have it!!! (dont have the stamp set yet that I planned to use it with...need to win a challenge!!!)

so here's my card for Tina:

These images are all from GKD stamp sets. The fish are from "By Your Side",  the sea grass is from "Quite a Catch" and the sentiment is from the "Spring Mix" set. Colored with copics, base cardstock is also from GKD - Asparagus and Red Rocket. The piece of light blue and the flower (which is supposed to look ragged ..and it does heee heeee heeee...) are from stash box.

news flash - The GKD Center Stage Designing Team is currently working on projects for a blog hop on Thursday showcasing the "Quite a Catch" set....I'm so excited! But the mojo is hard after seeing what the current team and guest designer (Geri)  have already created.  Maybe if I just "case" somebody the mojo will come.......for those of you who havent seen this set - these are the cutest little ocean creatures!!!

have a blessed day,

Super simple an adorable

Hello,
Had fun this evening making something soooooooo simple and yet PERFECT for that little something to stick in a card your sending.....one of those "why didnt I think of that" things...can mail it also since it's sooooo light weight (if you don't add a ton of stuff heheeeehhheee)....what is it?

It's from Karen, hostess for STV's Anything But a Card Challenge , to "Create an acrylic bookmark, then decorate with stamped images".

Got to use some of that acrylic cardstock that has been sitting in my paper drawer for over a year AND some colored images that just havent worked with anything yet....woooo hooooo! and now I have 5 adorable acrylic bookmarks, ready to give to co-workers, friends, family - just because!  This is the one I'm keeping to use in my pocket New Testament that I keep in the car.

like most of us, I have made a ton of bookmarks but I really like using the acrylic!
this is made with GKD's "By Your Side" by Asela...

Karen has some beautiful ones on the the challenge link above - I want to CAS the one she did with the seashells (we can finally purchase that set tonight at 10pm after the release party at STV)

These were fun!
TIP: I used adhesive for vellum so it wouldnt show since you apply the adhesive to the colored side of your image...on a couple of the others I made ..did use regular adhesive, just in small pieces over the darker colored areas...worked fine!

Have a blessed day,

Cards for two challenges at STV

Good morning - having to post these quick - they are already over on STV...

the first is for Tina's color challenge to use royal blue, yellow and red!!!  wow - had to think on this one. These bright colors are a little out of the ordinary for me....used Gina K's "Retro Boutique" by Asela...and paper pieced the dress. Used Cosmo Cricket's Garden Variety dp and the Peony and Fancy tags nesties...flowers and brads from stash!

this second card is for Gina's two-fold challenge to:
First, make a card that would make someone smile, lift their spirits or will let them know you were thinking about them or could use a little pick-me-up and then mail it to them.

used images from Gina's "Spring Mix" set.... cardstock from GKD, colored with copics, ribbon from stash, and background stamp is from Michaels.

well, tonight after work is my Bible study with the women in jail - would really appreciate your prayers....also, would you please pray for my dear sister-in-Christ, Fiona - she is having some serious physical problems and currently in the hospital - if you would like to send her some encouragement, you can pop onto her blog from here.  I know she would appreciate it....thanks so much

have a blessed day,

love "Koi" - what???

they're beautiful "goldfish" type fish.....not a fish person but I believe that's the "type" of fish they are....they are beautiful!!  had a friend years ago who had a HUGE specially built fish pond thingy that had these fish in it....they were beautiful, varied in colors and actually pretty big. There were gorgeous water lilies growing across it and everyone always enjoyed sitting on the edge and watching them....but Friends moved....sold their home...new owner trashed the pond!  no fairy tale fishy story LOL

Have been wanting to use this set since I got it last month...finally got it inky for Vicki's sketch challenge over on STV...will also go to the JUGS color challenge this week!

let's see....the background is the Shaving Cream Technique (with pale plum, sage, pretty in pink) and colored with Copics. The cs is from SU (pale plum, sage, white), CB folder, nesties and stash ribbon!
You can see this whole set here from Gina K by Asela called "By Your Side"!

Concentrated on the sketch so much that I forgot JUGS had a twist on their color challenge to make the card a Birthday Card to celebrate Lisa's B-Day...so did the inside!
Happy Birthday Lisa!

now have to stop - go get some groceries (much needed!), get back here and get dinner going so I can get back to some stamping!!!!

have a beautiful weekend!
