Sketch Girls #2

Here's my entry for Sketch Girls 2nd sketch. I used SU set "Inspired by Nature" and the Joseph Coat technique. I wanted to put the sentiment (from Creative Vision) down at the bottom right of the card but felt that really would have been too far away from the sketch. My center panel is already probably a little larger than it should be. Paper and ink are also SU's - Hunter Green and Really Rust, ribbon is from "somewhere".... I like this card better in my hand LOL

Linda

coffee & friends - gotta love that!

I hope your not getting tired of the faux postage stamps (posted a couple different cards at STV for their challenges) - Have about 3 more to play with yet ......LOL
This is done with stamps purchased from various places (mostly Michael's and I think they are still selling them)
Quick, quick, quick! this one took 11 minutes including cutting/matting...see why I love them (the hardest thing was getting the nailheads off their adhesive and on the card, my fingers are just too big for that) LOL

A Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge 62-Sketch by Caryn

Posted by Picasa

I know...you're probably thinking CHRISTMAS !!! but I am starting to get the urge to get an early start. Wanted to use this Tilda and Edwin and that pushed me to go to my Christmas stamps for a sentiment. Next thing I knew, I had a whole armload of Christmas stamps that I took back to my work area. Yes,,I said "armload"...Christmas stamps are a weakness - add it to my list! When it comes to stamping I am weak about it all ... LOL ...Can anyone relate?

For this card I used Stampin Up dp and scallop punch, Martha Stewart snowflake punch (from scrap paper I had versamarked and glittered),gold gel pen, sentiment and brads from "somewhere".

Thanks for stopping by, please say Hi! and don't leaave without entering for my candy - Mine in no way compares to those on my sidebar - but I dream of one day having as many visitors as those ladies and then being able to be as generous.

Just Magnolia Challenge #15

Hope I'm not too late getting this one submitted. Love this little Tilda. Used an old suitcase stamp from Art Impressions, sentiment is from Gina K's Bug Me Anytime, Basic Grey dp and colored with Copics.
Did you sign up for my candy? It's not much compared to some of those being shown on my side bar ...but if I ever reach the number of visitors those ladies have...I can do the same thing LOL

More later on the convention - was the best I've been to!

Candy will be posted on Monday July 27th - Come back to see!!

I can't believe that I've 1000 + hits to my blog - and I just starting really using it the beginning of June! Stamp TV has provided me with some absolutely incredible inspiration and ideas - they take you completely out of your "comfort zone"....which is something I really needed. All my cards were beginning to have similar layouts and colors...at least I think so...

I want to thank Jennie Harper for her encouragement and support in my "taking the blog plunge"...and then to the rest of the STV group that are truly such an encouragement. Check out my sidebar and visit those blogs - you will be amazed at the talent!!!! and a thank-you to my faithful customers over on Ebay. Some of whom have been feeling somewhat neglected as I spend my time doing the challenges (yes, I will continue to provide the $2.50 cards.....so Eve, quit emailing me - just kidding!!! you are super!).

New addiction - challenges! Maybe THEY will replace the food addiction... wishful thinkin'

OK, before I get all mushy ...I have decided that while I'm at the Winston-Salem Convention (and later at the Enchanged Cottage) that it would be a great time to make some purchases just for CANDY to thank everyone for their encouragement. Maybe some Basic Grey "stuff", some unique punches, or .... well, just don't know yet LOL

Come on back on Monday - it may be Tuesday (I do have a job and this is a really busy time right now, actually I'm still here at work at 8 pm but taking a quick break) If you want to leave a comment now, that will be fine - I will include it in the drawing. Hopefully you will want to follow my blog also ...but definitely not a requirement..I will enter your name twice if you post this to your blog and let me know it in your comment (see, I'm getting the hang of this haha)

Will have pictures and details, etc etc etc I'm so excited myself BIG SMILE HERE!!!

sure do miss my stampin but will get back to that next week, BIG sigh :)

Thanks again to everyone
Linda

A Spoon Full of Sugar's Challenge #60

Love this little Tilda (well, I love them all!) for this challenge. I had some large scraps from my Basic Grey and was able to use them in this sketch. Ran the whole background mat through cuttlebug. Used assorted flowers, eyelets and brads. I pieced her dress and shoes with additional scraps (try to use them up, I'm over "stocked" with scraps). She is colored with Copics.

Friday Sketcher's Challenge #61

Special wishes - love the sentiment and this adorable Tilda! This challenge allowed me to use the huge scallop die cut from Stampin Up. Can't go wrong with the Basic Grey designer paper, nestabilities rectangles, little Marvy scallop punch for sentiment....pearls, pearls, pearls! and I had these little star buttons from somewhere - clipped off the back of the buttons so they would lay flat. It worked - now I will stalk the stores for sales on old buttons :) I didnt have enough of the star buttons to put them to the side of the image (as the sketch showed), so I used scrap ribbon. Dotted Stickles through out the blooms on the paper and all over her wings.

Not sure if I will be stamping any more this week ...bummer!!! very busy time at work right now. However, I am so excited about this weekend. Several friends and I are headed to North Carolina to stay with dear friends AND go to the stamping convention in Winston-Salem. This also means a trip to the Enchanted Cottage!! Have been saving my money for weeks - the Enchanted Cottage alone will kill my credit card LOL. If you've never been to the EC...GO...and prepare yourself! You will be overwhelmed with choices on everything to do with cardmaking or scrapbooking. Will take some pictures of the place and convention and post them next week.

Thanks for stopping by - please say Hello and comments are always appreciated !!!!!!

Have a great weekend - I'm looking forward to some "Gran Ma" time today LOL

Another Blog Candy with a Twist....

Another Blog Candy with a Twist.... Want to try your chance at winning a Copic 72 pen set? Charmed Cards & Crafts have teamed up with Graphics Direct Ltd to bring you this fantastic prize. The twist is that they want you to link to a project on your blog (in your comment) that either uses a download or a stamped image that you coloured in. Link to a card you made with a download or a stamped image (does NOT have to be one of theirs), but if you do use one of the Charmed Cards & Crafts downloads or stamps then you get two chances! If you want to try, go to their site and see the details.

Here is my entry:

colored with Copics - Stampin Up designer paper and Penny Black stamp!

Someone is going to be mighty happy on August 4th!!!! Best of Luck to all :)

little girl on beach

I made this card for a challenge and have been so busy - forgot to post it !!! bummer :( Oh well, I liked the card and did some different embellishments - you can't tell it very well in this picture, but after I adhered the ribbon to the cardstock... I ran it through the crimper with the ribbon. It is so pretty "in person" ...some of you have done this before - but it was a first for me...and I like it!!!

Wanted her to look "beach dirty", so used copics on glossy cardstock. Didn't want a smooth blended look on her skin - going for more of a little tan mixed in with sunburn!

Sending Prayers STVSC20

For this card, I wanted to use the colors found on this Basic Grey Wisteria paper. It is a very soft, delicate card. You can't see it well, but there is sheer ribbon across the bottom that has more flowers already on it that matched the paper. The flowers and leaves were punched with assorted Marvy punches...don't forget the Cuttlebug! Sentiment is from the Arranged with Love set from Gina K (see sidebar)... I really like this one.

STVTC21

This card is done with the PSX Stamp "Iris". It's done with the technique titled Poppin Pastels at Stamp TV. Stamped the image on white cardstock with versamark and then colored with chalks. I use cotton swabs to apply the different colored chalks. It gets messy, but using an eraser ...I removed all the chalk smudging.
Next step was to cover only the image again with versamark pen and then clear embossed image. Last, sponged the background with Saffron around the image and Night of Navy to the outside of the card. I had brayered the base card with Night of Navy - heavy on one side and then continued rolling on the other side so it would be lighter (and clean off the brayer).
The designer paper is also from Stampin Up.

Dandelion "Floaters"

A friend saw this set from Gina K "Many Wishes" and wanted me to make a card for her with lots of gold or "sparkle"! I dont usually like to do cards that are necessarily requested with specifics (seems to affect my "mojo") BUT for this card I was excited because I've been wanting to play with this set. Wanted to have a leaf background that would standout as different. So hand-drew the leaves, colored with chalk, outlined them with white and gold. Used sage shadow cardstock to match coloring of leaves. Stamped the little "blow" blooms (we used to pick them and blow on them to watch them float away) in craft white and embossed. Matted on gold cs, added double ribbons, little gold bling nailhead, and there is glitter all over the images that doesnt show well in photo. Quick and easy! Going to do some more later to put on Ebay....well back to work - working from home first part of the day to avoid all the traffic that the news is reporting...ugh :(

SCS Challenge IC187

for the SCS Inspiration Challenge this week -- http://www.posters.com/ . What a wonderful place to go for color inspiration. After looking through so many beautiful posters, I decided on "A Fine Meal" by R. Campbell http://www.posters.com/pv-424144_Fine-Meal-A.html Used my watercolor crayons, a LOT of glazing and cut out the grapes and mounted them! This card worked great for this challenge!
Well, working on one more card today before shutting down and celebrating the 4th :)

Copic Creations Challenge #7 and Friday Sketchers #59 and Just Magnolia Week 12

Love these little Tilda stamps. This card covers 3 challenges, check them out at
http://justmagnolia.blogspot.com/
http://copiccreations.wordpress.com/
and
http://fridaysketchersblog.blogspot.com/

The charm on this card is the last charm I have !! time to go to my local craft store....any excuse, right? Just got the new Lemonade papers from Basic Grey and had to cut into them right away. They are so pretty!! I wanted to match Tilda with the colors in the paper. Matted her on Temptin Turquoise to try and bring out some of the little blue flowers on the paper. The inside of the card just has the side stamped with the same butterfly stamps behind Tilda and a piece of the dp from the front of the card. Cute and Quick! that's the kind I like LOL
Another night of insomnia - oh well, tomorrow is Saturday so will hopefully sleep in.
yeah, right :)

HAPPY 4th of July !!

STVPF20 Punchmania Challenge

Went "punch happy" on this card - able to use up a lot of scrap cs..that's always a good thing! Butterfly is from Gina K's "Take Flight" set. It was watercolored then embossed. The little flowers and leaves are from odd n end punches collected over the years. Scallop punch is from Stampin Up. Basic Grey and SU cardstock.

It's now 3:30 am and I am going to see if I can finally get to sleep !!!

Have been working on this watercolor card. Today my new stamps arrived from GinaK (woo hooo) and I couldn't wait to use them. Love the little adirondack chair and thought it fit nicely (originally the sentiment was going where I put the chair)..I like it better this way.

INSOMNIA has struck so I am working on cards! Its 2am and I've been up since 6 this morning. Thank goodness I dont have to work tomorrow...sure hope I don't sleep all day. Want to get my hands on those new stamps (big smile)
