Crafters of Faith Blog Group April Challenge

Good morning, so back to work...all good - very blessed to have the career that I have...but sure hate that the weekend is over (-:    Thanks for the well wishes on the yard sale to raise funds for transporting 36 kids to the Wilds Christian Camp this summer - we are setup, have gone through the tons of stuff donated and just have to wait for the actual sale this coming Saturday!

Today is the blogging group that I belong to ... the Crafters of Faith...monthly challenge for our group. This month the challenge is from Olga. She gave us these guidelines:
  • must be 5 x 7...got it
  • must have at least one die cut ....got it
  • must include envelope ...got it
  • Mother's Day theme....got it... (sort of - my card for my MIL is already done so this is going to a special friend)

used sentiment from Heartfelt Creations - HCPC 3354 Class Message PreCut Set, Designer Paper is from Stampin Up as well as cardstock. I save bits of punched cardstock so took this opportunity to randomly add them as a border to the mat. Mat are die cut with Spellbinders Grand Nestabilities Labels 4 and Regular size Label 4. The flowers are die cuts from Spellbinders that were designed by Nina Brackett called Astor Flowers .  and brads are from stash. Pearls are done with Liquid Pearls - white.

now, check this out!!!  had no idea what to do for this huge envelope and wanted to watercolor...so pulled out the SU watercolor crayons but the NEAT part is...I stamped with the AsterFlower die! yep, it didn't hurt the ink pad, so I masked the stamp and stamped with the die onto the envelope...so now it matched my card! Even added stickles and liquid pearls to the envelope... and it can be mailed because its all flat on the envelope! not detailed coloring, went for water color look...

You can check out the rest of the group's take on Olga's challenge from my sidebar,

Sugar Creek Hollow Challenge

hey hey hey - It's Sa-tur-dey...love weekends (-:

Welcome to another Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow . This week we want you to make vintage, shabby chic or primitive cards using...a fancy fold...

Well, I decided it was time for me to try the "Tri Shutter Card"...seen so many of you do them and they were gorgeous...but seemed like a lot of work! and guess what! it WAS !!!
took me almost an hour to get the inside to go right...and then figuring out the measurements for the little pieces..but I GOT IT !!! and its little measurements too LOL...(in my witch of wizard of oz voice)
so be prepared to see me doing a bunch because now I'm hooked...and it really is easy once you do the first one!
so here is my first Tri Shutter card - sorry for my fingers in the pic but couldnt get it to stay closed enough to get a pic of the front...

designer papers from My Minds Eye and image was from Graphics Fairy ...
center sentiment from Penny Black and Happy Birthday is from GKD - Mountain Wilderness fr Theresa Momber, dry embossed and rest of embellishments = MS punches, prisma pearls, ribbon from stash and Memento Black and Rose Bud ink.

hope you like - looking forward to your vintage, shabby or primitive cards with different folds...need the inspiration!
We will be choosing one random winner who will receive a digi of our choice and a winner's badge to display. The Design Team will also select one project as Top Pick and the creator will receive a badge to display and will be in the running for our monthly Guest Designer spot.

Stamp TV's CSS Alumni Blog Hop

Hi there,
it's that time of the month again when the Center Stage Alumni bring you a Hop and you have the chance to win a huge, FABULOUS, FREE GRAB BAG FROM GKD! oh yeahhhhh

This month we were given this sketch from the super talented Melissa Cash ...whose blog you should have just come from...if you want to start the hop at the beginning, just pop over to STV! .

I used stamp sets from Melanie Muenchinger for both of my cards....

This first card was quick and easy and almost like "find Waldo" only it's "...find the butterflies"  LOL
Melanie's butterfly stamp in her stamp set A Beautiful Life matched the designer paper from DCWV - Mariposa so perfectly!
The cardstock is GKD's Innocent Pink and Black (stash checkered dp), stickles, stash ribbon and Viva Pearl Pen - black. Used a short Popsicle stick for template for sentiment...worked pretty good !

This card took a lot longer but love it! Sure wish photo did it justice KWIM!
Changed the sketch just a tad - ran my ribbon along the bottom and used Spellbinder's  Labels One for image background instead of rectangle. Sentiment is done with Spellbinder's Classic Scalloped Ovals Large.

Used Melanie's sets, Holiday Basket and the sentiment and lady bug is from her A Year of Flowers.
Basket was done with Copics E09, 31, 37 and sponged with Memento's Desert Sand.
Flowers were sponged with Memento's Angel Pink and Rose Bud, leaves were done with Copics YG63,67
Sentiment stamped with Memento Black and ladybug colored with Copic R27
Designer Paper is from Prima - the Madeline Collection
Base cardstock is SU's Bayou Blue, stash scrunched seam binding, glossy accents used for dew drops and on leaves... and Viva Pearl Pen - white

Roses were paper pieced and added with pop dots....WHEW! done (-:

NOW, pop over to my wonderful talented team-sistah Kay Simmons to see the gorgeousness she has ready!

Make sure to leave a comment as you hop along because on Tuesday morning (April 24th), we will randomly choose one of the comments from all the blogs and that person will receive a huge grab bag of fabulous Gina K. Designs Stamps!

Sincerely hope you enjoy the hop
hugs,

PS also entering the second card in the challenges at:
Crafty Friends Challenge - use two diecuts
Oozak - Anything Goes

Phri-days are Phindy's!

Hi there, so glad you're back for my second post on Fridays....

This week at Phindy's Place Friday Challenge Blog the challenge is to create...using stitches (real or faux) and squares!
ok... haven't done real sewing on my cards in so long (but HAD to have the mini sewing machine two years ago LOL)  anyway, dusted it off and did some sewing... then I went and covered it up except for the outline sewing...got so engrossed in adding embellishments that I wasn't even thinking about my sewing!! There is sewing along the lace and on the red panel behind her...totally forgot about the actual challenge !! But I've been so busy at work that it felt great getting lost in creating my card KWIM !!

Used this the little cutie from Phindy called Cherry Chat
Colored her on the scruffy side because she was playing as hard as I was concentrating on this card...and she just ran in to give her friend a call   LOL

Used My Minds Eye dp, GKD Red Hot and Asparagus cardstock, colored with Copics, made my flowers using MS punches, stash lace trim and button w twine, hand cut the arrow and added pearl plus pearls to my flowers...
the frame was cut with Cricut mini
(thought it was something different to try!)

Hope you get to play, remember we will choose one random winner who will receive a $5 gift certificate to Phindy's store. The Design Team will choose one project as Card of the Week. The creator will also receive a $5 gift certificate to Phindy's store and will be in the running for a monthly Guest Designer spot.
You don't have to use a Phindy image but are entered twice when you do ...

hugs, hope to see you again tomorrow

Colored with Copics and added stickles

Want to thank EVERYONE who participates in our weekly Phindy challenges - we have really grown and it's because of our faithful followers who love the adorable images from Phindy's Place as much as we do (-:

For this challenge, since Easter is this weekend and my youngest grankids will be here (BIG SMILE), made this one for them - Easter egg hunts are big around our house... after church...we come home - stuff ourselves with the ham dinner - and then enjoy sitting on the deck while the 3 and 5 year old wear themselves out hiding and finding eggs LOL

This image is Phindy's Easter Joy

The Outlawz Friday Copics/Pro Markers challenge

hey hey hey!
This week, the the Friday's Copic/Promarker Design Team at the Outlawz challenges you to create ...something inspired by nature....

now I did have a beautiful card with wonderful red and pink roses all ready for this challenge - took me 3 evenings to finish it ! it was going to my MIL for Easter...  but then...my sweet DH decided to pay me a visit in my craft room WHY OH WHY OH WHY!!!.....yep! disaster....as he so nicely admired the card for his Mom and was inching his way out of my room (tons of stuff on the floor and he's a big guy trying to get out of my mess...as I'm literally holding my breath) he backed into the door to my room - hitting his elbow really hard  - causing him to DROP his glass of tea...which landed where ???? yep, hit the corner of my desk and the rest....as we say...is...   hiss-store-ree!!  yep, lost that card and TWO others.....he was so upset - i was so trying not to be furious - after all he was trying to be encouraging.....oh well, it's over and moving on.....thanks for letting me vent  KWIM....I am thinking he wont venture in here again for a LOOONNG time (-:

so now back to the business of blogging....for this week's card - I chose this cutie pie from Sassy Cheryl's
called Dig in Nature - and unfortunately I believe it is now retired. Went to link it up for you but its no longer available....sorry bout that!
but pop over and check out her newer adorable little guy images..

hope to see you at the Outlawz! awesome prizes!!!

going to enter this one over at Sassy Cheryl's challenge blog this week - Challenge is pastels and it's not often you see a guy image that qualifies as "pastel"...
have a beautiful weekend

Digi Doodle Shop Challenge Day!

hi there,
I'm been patiently waiting (hahahaha yea right!) for today!  Have been so excited for today to finally be here...this is my first post as part of this talented Design Team! woooo hoooo....I first became acquainted with Digi Doodles when they sponsored a challenge over on Sugar Creek Hollow....it was love at first sight!

This week the challenge over at the Digi Doodle Shop Challenge Blog is to create "using new stash"....how perfect for my first post! The image itself is new stash !  I love the cute cute images they have but am really in love with their vintage images...and since learning vintage is my goal ...I am going to love this journey with them!

I chose this image Prayer by Light  because it reminds me of two pictures my MIL has hanging in her living room - on one side is the woman praying and the other is the older gentleman praying - I'm betting a lot of you know the set I'm talking about...anyway...I love this image...

I hope this is how my kids, grankids, family and friends will remember me...as a woman of prayer!

new stash (besides image) is designer paper from Prima called Madeline....love it! It's the floral background paper.

Hope you have time to enter our challenge at the Digi Doodle Shop Challenge Blog ! I know there are so many challenge blogs out there to chose from.
