This card for two challenges for GinaK at Stamp TV. It is in the SCS forums under GKJUNTM and GKJUNLM. All you have to do is create a card using the designated sketch (and upload it to the SCS Gallery). The other challenge is to use pink/brown color combo, so I combined the two! Used designer paper from Basic Grey "Infuse" - love it and only have a few pages left in the pad :(. Stamp is from Gina K's "Take Flight" set.
I did this today after church and now have to get ready to go back. Work tomorrow so no more stamping for me for a few days!!

SU "On Gossamer Wings"

Entered a color challenge over at Stamp TV and wanted to use the cardstock stash from that ...and going through older SU stamp sets to sell...wanted to use this stamp from the "On Gossamer Wings" set. I dont know what to do! the more I go through my old stamps.. the more I want to keep them.. BUT they will be on Ebay soon ....I think I will do an all black mourning card on that day :(

This is my submission for the challenge at Limelight Paper Crafts that ends on 6-28 - easy sketch and the prize is 5 yards of ribbon! Who doesn't love ribbon :) I made this card with items from Big Lots - all were $1 each - the wedding stamp set, pack of mulberry AND the roll of white swiss dot ribbon (love that stuff)...

STVTC19

This is my entry for the challenge over at Stamp TV this week to sew on a card. I had planned on the flower being a butterfly but dropped my watercolor brush and it left a blob on my card that I had to cover. For someone who doesnt sew often on cards, I went crazy on this one! even sewed the petals on the flower! craziness ..... lol

Friday Sketchers Challenge No 57

This is my entry for Friday Sketchers Challenge No 57 . Enjoyed using this stamp from SU's "Tender Toile" retired stamp set. Colored with copics and added flower soft. I quilled the little rose and added the pearls. Didn't leave room for leaves so I used the shredded pieces next to my cutter - think I like it OK. Actually, was going to put this set on Ebay, but now... think I will keep it. grooooaaaaannnn - if I keep playing with the stamp sets I need to get rid of- I won't part with them ...and I have to! of course, it's to make room for NEW stamps :)

well, going to try and go to bed early tonight - it was a super busy weekend and have a long day at work tomorrow. No complaints though - thankful for my job.

Happy Father's Day!

Just passin through

Now I know we live in the country, but this was crazy! Early Saturday morning I was passing by my bedroom window and heard something - looked outside and its a COW! just casually crusin' by ..I ran to get my camera and when I had made it out to the deck - surprise - there was a horse too!! they both kept going (although the horse stopped to eat some weeds - he/she could have stayed around and eaten all of them) and continued on like they knew where they were going .....I was glad I had taken the pictures - who would believe this ??? and none of our neighbors know who they belonged to ...

Copic Creations #6 Wood Challenge

Love this stamp from Art Impressions - Thank goodness this challenge is by random generator and not talent. The apple in the flower is mounted on a large brad. The apple and the image are colored with copics. This card doesn't begin to be on the same level as those submitted - but it's quick, easy and that works for me LOL

Stampin Up

Well, I have decided to let my Stampin Up demonstrator status die a slow death. The area I live in has been pretty well saturated over the past years with SU products - and I have lost interest in doing the workshops to sell. We are going to still get together, but to share techniques and stamps and fellowship without me selling. Looking forward to it so much. I have added a very creative lady to my blog who is a wonderful demo for SU. So when my "demo-ship" lol has died and gone (boohoo), I will order online from Dawn. Please let her know if you are ordering from her because you found her through this blog. Thanks and I can't believe it's after midnight yaaawwwnnnn

Chick Friends

Change of pace! I enjoy these "chicks"...they are just kickin back and havin a good ole time. Always brings a smile when I make cards with this stamp.
something quick and easy (my operative word these days).

STVCC17 challenge - Vera Bradley bag

Jennie from Stampin Away the Day is hosting the Color Challenge on StampTV this week. Her inspiration for the color combination came from a new Vera Bradley (Bali Blue) purse she was given. The bag is beautiful - wish it was the prize!!! LOL The winner of this challenge will receive a stamp set from Gina K Designs. Check it out for more details.
This is my entry - I used a picture of the bag and cut out the designs I wanted to use for the bottom piece. The bottom layer was adhered to sticker paper to give it stability. The middle layer of the design was adhered to the green cardstock and carefully matted (I think it fit in perfectly). Cut out another piece and made the center. Used a dimensional dot to raise the center and slightly curled the petals. The butterfly was embossed on another area of the picture, cut out and raised with dots. Needed something in the left corner, so those little circles are from the blue scraps of the blue cuttlebug mat, punched little centers again from the picture, pierced the upper corner, matted the green layer with the quilted cuttlebug folder, added the ribbon...and voila - My card!
so get going on yours, challenge ends on June 22 :)

Well, it turned out to be too busy a weekend for cards. Our daughter and her family (son-in-law Paul, 8yr old Maggie and 11 yr old Thomas) in North Carolina were able to come to Virginia this weekend. My niece just graduated from Va Tech and we were invited to her graduation cook-out at my brother's near Leesburg, Va on Saturday evening. Saturday morning we helped my other daughter have a yard sale. They have a 2 year old (Lily) and 4 month old (Logan), so I was GranMa at the yard sale. Loved it! and it worked out that they were able to shut down the yard sale at noon, take what didnt sell home, get kids fed and ready and then join us on trip to Leesburg (2 hours from my house). Needless to say - it was a full day. We were all exhausted!

I had done this card earlier this week for the challenge at http://notimetostamp.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/2009/06/04/stamp-simply-90-gone-to-pot/ Love this stamp from an old Stampin Up favorite retired set.
Sorry about the long linking address - I need to learn how to do a link and give it a name without having to show the whole address.
And I need to get busy on some cards for ebay - I have already had one of my favorite customers email me with her support on my new blog but worried that I won't have time to do cards for her ...how sweet was that !! So will take a break on the challenges (everyone is right, they are addicting) and build up my card inventory for my little ebay store - need it to help support my addiction ooops hobby :>
goodnight

Friday Sketchers Challenge 56
I made this card following the sketch on this week's challenge at - Friday Sketchers. I've had the stamp for quite awhile but I believe it came from Michael's. The ribbon and paper is from my "scrap stash". The little starfish are from another stamp of a pier and gulls - I just cut out the little star fish. Image is done with Stampin Up's watercolor crayons.

My wonderful friend, Jennie - aka Stampin Away the Day - posted this challenge on her blog:

Creative Vision has their first challenge on their blog A Fairy Creative Place to create something layered with Red, White and Blue. Everyone is welcomed to join in on this challenge and create something to win a stamp set. The last day to enter is Friday, June 12 ....

So I'm going to enter this one - I know they are probably thinking patriotic theme, but I had this snowman already done with the red/blue scarf so I went ahead and matted him to match the color of the challenge. I don't have any of the stamps from Creative Vision but sure plan on getting some!

Going to go crash - have a day off tomorrow and hope to get some time to do some "card making"

good night :)

Copic Creations Challenge #5

Well, my first challenge.
It's Challenge No 5 - Clear or transparent items from http://www.copiccreations.wordpress.com/ ending June 15th (the winner will receive items from Gina K Designs).
AND I learned a lesson! Being new at this, I thought how clever of me that I had actually also used a sketch from another challenge. Just so proud, right? ~ wrong!! I thought had saved the site where the sketch I used is located, but....I didnt. I have just spent literally half the day looking for that site :(
and, for some reason, my camera has decided to give me some trouble. I apologize for the darkness of the pictures.
So I have given up looking for the sketch challenge site and now going to go drown my irritation at myself and the waste of the afternoon (well, not really - I looked at so many creative blogs with such beautiful cards -and looking forward to taking mine up to a whole new level) ...in the biggest steak n cheese sub and fries I can find...providing my hubby will agree to eat out LOL
Linda

A change of pace from Tilda today - a favorite customer from Ebay requested something with a "vintage feel" and flowers. So I pulled out the watering can stamp from Art Impressions, did a little sewing (something I never thought I'd do on a card :)) ribbon, flower soft .... and voila!
Card done! used my quill needle to turn the corners of the scallop punch. Different, but I think I like it. Hope she does :)
well its beautiful outside today so off to do "something"

BLOG CANDY over at http://jacquesmagnolias.blogspot.com/ She has put together a beautiful set using the adorable TILDA with a coordinating mini clipboard, mini composition book, pen, daisy journal, wooden holder with shaped daisy post-its, ribbons, flowers, buttons, charms, a bouquet of daisies, AND matching cookies (in the blue checked box) AND blue and yellow Jelly Belly candies!!! All you have to do is leave a comment on her blog and link the posting if you have a blog. She is selecting the winner at random on Friday, June 12, at 6AM EST.

Best of luck to everyone - but I sure hope I'm the winner LOL :)

I know - I just did a card with this Tilda - but she is so adorable. I pieced the top of her umbrella for more dimension and the matted image is raised on the card.
Hoping to get several more cards done tonight - actually considering trying my first challenge ever - hmmmmmm, will I do it?

she is so sweet! just works for any occasion. Since this card is 4.25 x 5.50 there isnt a lot of room for more embellishments. Another storm is stopping and starting (but not anywhere near as bad as yesterday's)...going to get off now before storm starts up again

Tuesday, June 2, 2009

We could not believe this - Hail (some the size of quarters) poured down on us starting about 6pm and it kept stopping and starting for almost an hour - but hail!!!! the temperature here before the storm was 92! Well, its now 10:44pm and the storm is so bad that we've lost power twice (although briefly). So I will wait until the morning to again reset the clocks - I just turned my computer on to see if I had service and am very surprised that I do. So my little Tilda's are colored and ready to be set on their cards...but that will have to wait until Thursday now.

Work tomorrow and church tomorrow night so Thursday (hopefully) will be the earliest I will get back to the cards that for the moment are "works in progress" :)

Tilda with butterflies

Wanted to try my butterfly punch! I hope they stay "popped-up n open" after they've been in an envelope. I secured Tilda's head and shoes with SU dimensionals and used double stick tape to the rest of the body. I was trying to make her look like she was leaning forward slightly. You can tell it on the card but I dont think the pictures show it very well.... now I'm off to work on more of these adorable little Tilda's !!
