vintage lady on beach

This is a different type card for me. I love looking at the vintage sites but have never tried one. BUT, blog surfing I came across a blog Clearly Vintage and while looking came upon this image.
THREW ME BACK TO MY CHILDHOOD!
This picture has to be my Grandmother's much younger sister, Aunt Laura !! as a child, Aunt Laura was always impeccably dressed and always had the most perfect manners. It was as though my dear Grandmother was always trying to "please" Aunt Laura. As a very young child, my Grandmother and her sisters would stay at a place on the boardwalk of Ocean City. When I saw this picture, I stopped dead in my tracks! I could actually see her sitting on the beach, with her fashion magazine (I can even remember a dress she wore that was very close to these colors) and she was always completely dressed on the beach. (She was also stick thin and always commented about my weight, even as a young girl I was "chunky"...oops, that's a story for another day) LOL I added the pearls at the top of the card because when Aunt Laura looks up from her magazine.....you know she will be wearing her pearls !!

This image was colored with copics! Anyone else have an "Aunt Laura"....

lots of love,

Hi Linda,
This card is so elegant. I don't do vintage too often because it's difficult to hit the mark sometimes, but this is spot on. It reminds me of a photo my husband took of me on honeymoon nearly 40 years ago. Thanks for the memory.
Hugs,

This card is very striking, and became even more so with the story of Aunt Laura! Thanks for sharing both with us. I tried to sign up to "follow" your blog, but the link is done for now. I have bookmarked your blog site and will be back to visit and try to sign up. I would like to invite you to my blog and to sign up to follow me, too. I would love to call you a scrap bud. Thanks for the inspiration today! Here's my blog: http://kaywallacescrapbooking.blogspot.com/

Oh, Linda, you sure made me giggle. Did we all have that Aunt that was in our young business when we didn't want them to be? Mine was an Aunt Mary. Never had kids, but always had advice! Anyway, you must have liked yours enough to create this card, but mine???? UGH! The card is beautiful!

Linda, just catching up on blogs since my internet downer. Your cards a beautiful and I love the yellow flowers. I can't see this post's image foe some reason. Being vintage sounds great and I am sure it is stunning as well.

Very nice Linda... quite striking and love the vintage look, beautiful coloring on this. Yes, I have an actual Aunt Laura, but she only called at Christmas and was always drunk (but that is also a story for another day!) Loved hearing all of the details about your memory at the boardwalk..I need to go watch Beaches (the tune Under the Boardwalk is rambling through my head) :oP
