Stamp TV's CSS Alumni Blog Hop - Fall Shaker card

Hi there, time for the STV Alumni's blog hop. This time it's our Treasure Chest Challenge where some lucky person will win a FREE GKD Stamp Set. Make sure to leave a comment as you hop along because on Tuesday morning (September 27), we will randomly choose one of the comments from all the blogs who will get a stamp set of their choice valued up to $24.95!

Our challenge was to create using a Fall theme and it must be a Shaker....so I used GKD's Showtime Stamp sets "signs of autumn" and "thanks a million".

You should have come from Miesje's Blog Weren't her shakers amazing!! and You can always start the hop right from STV...

This first card is the one I had done last week for this hop prior to my new grandaughter being born..had intended to embellish it more but kinda like it with sentiment being the focal. Cardstock is GKD's Green Grass and dp is Basic Grey's "Pyrus"

i know - i did a green pumpkin..but i wanted to use that gorgeous orange mesh stuff and thought it was too much orange if I framed my shaker using orange also...
TIP: dont use popcorn for a shaker - i had to triple stack my pop dots!!! grooooaaannnnn....

so after being gone a few days, when I came home the other night my craft desk still had everything out from making the above card...so I made another one before putting everything away...here you go!
the cardstock is GKD's Sand
used the red, yellow and gold Gelato's (love working with those, thanks Jennie!)
shaker is filled with Gala Glitz gold...pic doesnt show the leafs in the shaker stamped lighter
TIP:  if you dont have those pop dots sitting tight next to each other, the tiny beads in the glitz come rolling out...what a mess!!!

so I am DONE doing Shaker Cards for awhile.... now that you have a couple tips on what NOT to use LOL...head over to STV and enjoy Gina's Tutorial on Creating a Shaker Card  they really are easy
I made it difficult on myself (-:

now your next stop is over to Karen's wonderful blog She has no problem creating shakers ...

thanks so much for joining in our hop...hope you are getting some inspiration and looking forward to seeing your shaker card over on STV!
hugs

Thanks for the tip on not using popcorn. I think your cards are great.

Fantastic cards! Love how the shaker element adds so much to a card. The pop corn is ingenious even if you say not to use it.

wow - amazing cards. Love the pumpkin one and you're right, and orange one would have distracted from the lovely mesh.

Both cards are adorable and even though you had to triple stack your pop dots using popcorn is a cute idea!

Linda, what great cards. I too have stacked pop dots to put 'larger' items like beads in. They are so much fun:)

Great cards! Thanks for the tip about the pop corn. I love the card with the glitz.

Beautiful cards! Love the fact that you used kernels on the first with the rooster and think it was so worth the extra stacking. Your card is so elegant and using gold beads and such inside your shaker on the second card (sorry about all the mess - yikes!)

I love the cards, Grandma! So innovative. I love the texture of the pumpkin card, and the gold flakes in the other card looks like you stuck the "mother lode"!

Through your frustration you have created some great cards. I liked the green pumpkin. Thanks for the tips. Sorry that you had to experience first hand what not to do. Now you can make use of your own tips and continue to make pretty shaker cards.

Love both of your cards. Thanks for the tips also. I have used popcorn before & a tip you might use is that I put the corn in a plastic bag & crushed it with a hammer. It makes like a corn mash.

Both your cards are great and I love your artistic licence on the green pumkin ...totally agree you HAD to use that orange mesh. Thanks for the "what not to do's" gold sparklies everywhere...that would be me!

Paulette S said...

So much fun! Beautiful cards with the GK stamps. Microwave your corn before using it to kill any bug eggs, all grain comes with things that hatch when you least expect it. Freezing slows it down, but doesn't stop it.

Tosha said...

The corn is oh too cute...great fun, thanks for sharing.

Unknown said...

Great card, so pretty and creative!! I can't wait to give this a go, sitting here thinking on ideas, wonder if someone already used one along the way before I get done this hop, thought about your corn Idea as my husband uses corn to feed the dear with our grandson at a local park, so won't try that one as you have conquered that, want to try and think of an original one!!
Great job.
THanks
Donna
