Sugar Creek Hollow - Mixed Media Challenge

Hi there,
so tickled I was able to complete a card I've been working on in time to enter
Sugar Creek Hollow's Challenge - Mixed Media!
I have just fallen in love with all the creative ways to do this... shouldn't have said "all" because the creativity in this media is endless!!
I have so many different layers and stuff on here - and the flower center is a clay figure from a mold
 I actually created (-:
Not sure how to begin...so will give you the supplies as I applied them...kinda of ... LOL
Base Cardstock is black 5 x 7
Started with scrap piece of Olive cardstock and stamped some various flowers using Memento Cottage Ivy. This is actually at the top of the card but got lost as I continued to add stuff...added scraps of various designer paper...lightly applied gesso to tone down the designer paper and then stenciled them using Dylusion stencils and GKD's Powder Blue ink. Using Faber Castell's Bold pens (pink, blue, purple, green and cream) I added back some color to designer paper. Then to get some shimmer, I used Ink Gold's Rosenquartz across the card lined up with piece of paper to give light lines and more "light"....also applied this stuff to the white paper flower.  Earlier last week I had make some molds using Amazing Putty and using WOW Embossing powder and a lavendar embossing powder, created my flower center. Then applied Ink Gold's Silver to its center  (shout out to Jennie Harper - we were together when I learned how to do this!)

Here is a close up - sentiments are rub-on's that were in my stash, pearls were done with Viva Pearl Pen and ribbon I think is THoltz (and I am almost out!!!) and burlap stash (cut with THoltz Tattered Flower die)
I love it....thinking I may keep this one KWIM

hugs and blessings everyone....
sure miss visiting but right now time is just so very tight
I was thrilled to get this card done

see you soon, promise

Sugar Creek Hollow Vintage/Shabby Chic Challenge

Hi there!
Welcome to another Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow. This week we want you to make a vintage or shabby chic project ...with the theme...

Alter something in a vintage or shabby style

Woohooooo! I've been loving working with Dylusion Sprays, Gesso AND acrylic paints...so pulled out a plain ole brown notebook and went to town with the acrylicpaint, stencils and stamps...
here's what I came up with

the back is done also...

Used an old favorite stamp set from Stampin Up called "Long Time Friend" for primary image..the rest of the stamped images are just random stamps (some you can see clearly but some are "ghosted" and didnt show in picture...also used stencil from Dylusions for the leaves down the side, image is colored with Copics. Also used some Gelato sticks for the orange areas, white craft ink and a white Sharpie pen...stash lace.
The entire cover (front and back) is sealed with Modge Podge

I had so much fun creating this!!!...going to go back to Target and get some more notebooks!!

PS: I'm still in North Carolina - daughter and husband have arrived home from their trip as high school chaperons to Disney World (rough life huh!) - but a dear, dear friend went home to be with the Lord on Thursday (he was 86) and his funeral is Saturday afternoon...so I'm headed home early am

Sugar Creek Hollow Challenge

Hi there!
Welcome to another Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow. This week we want you to make a vintage or shabby chic project ...with the theme...

Feathers and Fur
(Projects with birds or animals)

love this Mother Goose vintage image from TJ Designs Vintage cards

Hope you are inspired to join us...

Remember we are a vintage or shabby chic challenge - I say this because recently we've been getting many entries that don't fit the challenge. We believe it's because entries are looking for challenges that may fit their projects without knowing that our MAIN THEME is always "vintage or shabby chic"....

here are the definitions of each that may help you decide...

the easy one is" vintage" =
an old item, reflection of previous era, and processed grapes LOL

From Wikipedia, the hard one to understand is "shabby chic" =
a form of interior design where furniture and furnishings are either chosen for their appearance of age and signs of wear and tear or where new items are distressed to achieve the appearance of an antique. At the same time, a soft, opulent, yet cottage-style decor, often with an affected feel is emphasized to differentiate it from genuine period decor.

Well, now I've probably confused you more...

Bottom line - they both reflect time gone by! (-:

hope those of you snowed-in have power!! that's the worst part ... not having the good ole electric!
hugs,
Supplies:

Cardstock: SU Not Quite Navy
Designer Paper: THoltz
Birdcage from Spellbinders
Ticket from THoltz

Sugar Creek Hollow Challenge

Hi there!
Welcome to another Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow. This week we want you to make a vintage or shabby chic project ...with the theme...

LOTS OF LAYERS

Thrilled...because I came across the wonderful Dyan Reaveley (now a senior designer with Ranger) while watching videos from CHA...took my layering to whole different level for me! she is sooooo fast! but her style really appealed to me (especially her "ghosting technique").
Have been wanting to try something new - so jumped right in LOL. My local scrapbooking store had a few of the Dylusion Sprays (and I've ordered more online heeee heee heeee)...so here is my first attempt....

All of the background paper was done with the Dylusions Sprays. Worked with long sheet of white cardstock. After applying my sprays, then on one side stenciled over my dye colored cardstock using the Crafters Workshop stencil and a water mist to get that ghost look. Then on the opposite side of the cardstock, I stenciled using same stencil but with Memento Black ink. On one side of the card stock I then embossed with Paper Studio embossing folder (tossed out wrapper ages ago so don't remember the name of it), layered another round of Dylusions Spray. I then cut my cardstock, one for the background and the other one for the top layer with the sentiment.

Lost track of the layers of ink I did, but the cardstock layers you can see...layered light green onto darker green cardstock, matted the smaller clock onto light green cardstock. Layered sprockets cut using the Spellbinder set under the main image as well as smaller sprockets on top of image....added my buttons and pearls....This was really a LOT of fun! If you have the time, watch one of her videos on You Tube...wish I could create that quickly!!! you can click here to see one of them...enjoy!

I am going to do one of these journals so you will see my pages from time to time as I use mine on my cards....something new for 2013!

hugs and blessings,

Sugar Creek Hollow - Final challenge for 2012

Hi there!
Welcome to another Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow. This week we want you to make a vintage or shabby chic project ...with the theme...

MAKE A GIFT (a bag, box or enclosure, etc)

my little bag is not original to me - the idea comes from my blogging sister Diana Queen. She recently included one of her little gift bags in a box of goodies to me...i love it and CASED it! Made my own flower and adhered to clothes pin, a little doily from a pack I got from Walmart along with small brown bags, added my colored image and ribbon.

these little bags are so cute! this one is filled with Dove chocolate and going to a co-worker...

I've made a dozen of these - they're quick and perfect to give filled with candy!

Hope you get to show us YOUR gift project...

Sugar Creek Hollow is taking a break over the holidays...we will be back with our
first challenge in 2013 on January 5th...

and just in case I don't see you again until then

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
